I’m about 22 days left and I think I can finally take a breather. I have everything all planned out and ready to go. I have a few minor things to finish but nothing I can’t handle til the week of or weekend before. But knowing me I’m going to finish it all this weekend.
My thoughts for my final days…
It’s weird I’m excited and nervous but not getting cold feet which is good. It’s funny when people ask you “Are you ready?” I mean what are you suppose to say to that. “OF COURSE IM READY! If I wasn’t then I wouldn’t be getting married let alone be with this man for over a decade!” but I think that’s it. It’s rare when people get married after this long and you can’t help think you’re READY! We’ve gone through everything…adulthood in our 20's, lived with each other for over 5 years..have great communication, own a home…everything that you’re suppose to go through when you’ve been with your partner for so long. It’s funny cause we were reflecting on our relationship last nite and I said to him that I don’t want marriage to change ANYTHING. I want us to still be how we are today you are you and I am me and this marriage just makes things legal. I know people say that once you’re married things are different, but it doesn’t have to be unless you let it. We’re partners, we talk things out but we’re also individuals too and that’s what I want to make sure we keep. I felt we were married along time ago when we signed papers for our home…this wedding is showing everyone we’re making it legal. ;)
So everything I’ve done for this wedding has been semi-homemade. I’ve been working on a strict budget for myself and not go overboard. I think it curves the meaning behind a wedding once you make things lavish but to each his own right? If I had the means I’m sure I would think differently, but I have 2 retired parents and with the economy the way it is we have to work within our means…mines not that much but if I have to sacrifice a bit then I will. I think it means more when things are designed by yourself. I was able to design EVERYTHING!! From the invitations, programs, centerpieces, cupcake tower etc. I did however have assistance but it was all designed by me. I tried to limit myself from looking at a TON of magazines or checking out The Knot or other message boards. I browsed through a few a grabbed ideas here and there to create my own piece. I did however check out Martha Stewart weddings for a long time ;) I love that site!
I’m in my final stages of getting all my projects together to showcase all my wedding projects. Stay tuned!
