I decided to do another post on my wedding invites. I'm excited that I received such a positive responce from family and friends and I also got a nice email from a person that found my blog from one of the sites I regularly vist. So I'll go into more detail on what I did for my invite.
I used photoshop to create my peacock image. It did take me a few hours to use the handy tools on their, but THANK FULLY for a friend at work that's our graphic designer, she showed me some techniques. (Sorry I TOTALLY forgot how I did it so it'll be hard for me to do a step-by-step process on that). I scanned one of my feathers from home and worked my magic on photoshop.
I used illustrator for the layout. I felt that it was easier to do it that way since you have more free reign but you could use which ever format works for you.
For fonts, I wanted something more vintage and retro. A helpful site to view a TON of fonts are 1001 Free Fonts or DaFont . You can also google free fonts and it'll take you to a bunch of sites. Just search through and you'll be able to find what you're looking for. For me, I think having a good font makes the invitation. It gives it a little something whether your invitation is simple or has a bunch of graphics. The fonts just pop out once you find the right one
Like I said in my other posting, I reseached different designs and explored various options. I really wanted to be environmentally friendly and have minimal paper as possible. However, that didn't happen.I did use recycled paper. It's not TOO fancy but it's affordable and on laser printing it still came out pretty.
I also explored the option of having a prefforated RSVP cards to avoid a TON of inserts, but that didnt work out either. You have to find the right paper to print if you wanted to do a folded one, which is very limited and costly. If you had it done, it wouldn't be cheap. You can also buy one yourself but what would you do with it afterwards? Unless you're a scrapbooker and could find use out of it.
Please refer back to my last posting Stuff-Sealed-and-Delievered
On a side note, I originally wanted to include real peacock feathers in my invitation but my fiance made a good point that people usually throw invites away and it would be a waste of money to include them in their. Which is true, they don't come cheap. As an alternative, I printed them on vellum paper and they look just as good as the real ones.
Here's how my invites came together. I included the pages and my postcard RSVP. Let me know if you have questions. I'm always happy to help a fellow bride-to-be.
